The Montessori Method was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the 1900's. The method came about by observing children for a long period of time, and discovering how they play, socialize, learn and develop. Through these observations and discoveries she came to understand that a young child's mind is like a sponge and it can absorb the environment indiscriminately. She termed this as the "absorbent mind", and carefully prepared an environment based on the child's needs. Our classrooms reflect this philosophy and method.
